Hey astro lover. Welcome back to the pod. Today, we are talking all about the planets. The planets are what we're gossiping about here in Third House Gossip. And so it's essential that we know their personalities and what they're into. The planets are the action in astrology. So their travels through the Zodiac signs and their interactions with each other give us something to talk about. The planets love to talk about specific things. So today we're going to chat all about what those specific topics are because not every planet likes to talk about the same stuff. 

The planets are kind of like people with really powerful personalities. I like to think that I can actually sit down and have a conversation with a planet. I like to put clothes on the planet, like to give it a tone of voice. I like to give it a certain style. That really helps me ground astrology down into everyday reality. 

Let's start right off with the sun. So when cosmic gossip involves the sun, what we're actually talking about here is our sense of identity, our sense of self, who we think we are. We're also potentially talking about being seen or not being seen. So the sun is high up in the sky. It's super bright. Obviously we need sunglasses and all that good stuff. 

And so in astrology, the sun relates a lot to visibility. So when we're gossiping about the sun, we're also gossiping about if we feel seen and heard by other people. This can relate to our personal image. This can also relate to our reputation and how we're perceived by other people. When we're talking about the sun, we're also talking about our vitality. Now to me, the moon and the rising sign are very physical pieces of the chart, but the sun definitely represents that spark, that oopmh that keeps us going. It's like our body's battery. And if we think of the sun as a character, I like to think of it as a celebrity on stage. Or anyone who lights up the room when they walk in. 

The sun and the moon have a unique relationship. The moon reflects the sun's light. The moon also travels really, really fast and gathers information from all the other planets and beams it down to us here on earth. So part of the moon's job is to manifest the sun's intention or identity into daily life. So when we're talking about the moon, what we're usually talking about is the daily mood. We're talking about the tone of the day, and this comes from again, the moon moving really quickly through the sky. And making aspects to all types of planets, sometimes multiple times per day. And so it's the planet that relates most closely to how does the day feel? What's the vibe? 

We're also talking about the broad strokes of the month when we're talking about the moon. Remember that the moon has new and full moons every month. Right. And so we're talking about a storyline, a greater storyline than just the mood of the day. When we're talking about the moon, we're typically also talking about very intimate subjects, usually intimate spaces like our home. And people in our life that are really close to us, like our family. Whether that's chosen or blood family. We're also often talking about our physical bodies when we're talking about the moon. The moon rules how we take care of ourselves. It rules nourishment. It rules feeding and sleeping and watering and walking and all of those things that we do to take care of our bodies. So this rhythmic quality of the moon is reflected in our daily routine. Our daily schedule. And so when cosmic stuff is happening involving the moon, our bodies can be affected. If we think of the moon as a character, I like to think of it as granny baking cookies in the kitchen. And then sitting you down to have a chat about memories, right?  

Okay, next up is mercury. So the moon and mercury are the original gossips, both because they move super duper fast and they have so many interactions with the other planets, but mercury is also a gossip because, well, it governs communication of all kinds. So when we're talking about mercury here on the podcast, we are usually talking about talking. We are talking about communication. Talking about communication breakdowns. We're also talking about details. We're talking about paperwork, we're talking about facts and figures and things that we're writing and things that we're sharing. We might also be talking about our business or commerce. When we're talking about mercury, we might also be discussing what we're learning, the information that we're gathering together. And we could definitely be discussing technology. If I were to give mercury like a character. It would be a reporter. Hands down. No questions asked. 

And then there's cute little Venus. So when we are talking about Venus, we're usually talking about things that we love and enjoy. We might be talking about things that we find fun and pleasurable. So when cosmic gossip involves Venus, these things could be affected. But also our relationships could be affected. Venus is the relationship planet and it rules intimacy of all kinds. So when things are happening in the sky involving Venus, all relationships of any kind could be affected, not just romantic, but many other types, friendship, family relationship, work relationships, et cetera. When we're talking about Venus, we're also often talking about creativity. We're talking about our art, and that doesn't have to be art in the classic sense of the word, that can be whatever art is for you. For me, astrology is my art, right. And so when Venus is having interactions with other planets in the sky, our sense of creativity and our drive to create and to make can be affected. We're also often talking about self-love when we're talking about Venus, our self-respect. We might also be talking about how we balance our lives. You know, Venus is the planet in the body of homeostasis. And when we relate that to everyday living, that's how we spend our time, how we take care of ourselves in comparison to how much we're working and outputting, et cetera. If I were to dress Venus up, it would definitely be a lifestyle influencer in a flowy kaftan and like a floppy hat. Definitely. That's a vibe. That's a Venus vibe for sure. 

Okay. And then there's Mars and Mars is way different than Venus. When cosmic gossip involves Mars, what we're actually talking about is what's riling us up or getting us upset. We might also be talking about, cause Mars ain't all bad, we might also be talking about what's energizing or motivating us. Mars is the planet of energy. It's the planet of drive. It's the planet of action. And so when cosmic gossip involves Mars, we might be putting an action plan together. We might be moving forward and making decisions. We might be asserting ourselves and asserting our will. When Mars is really active in the sky, we might be really busy doing things that take a little courage, that take a little elbow grease. We might also be having to solve some problems or maybe resolve some conflicts. You know, Mars is not a walk in the park. If I were to make Mars a character would definitely be some type of bootcamp instructor. Like ruthless, just like, drop down and give me 20. 

All right, Jupiter. Our cosmic Santa Claus is up next. And when cosmic gossip involves Jupiter, what we're usually talking about is the good stuff. We're talking about what's working, and this is true for Venus as well. When Jupiter is doing stuff in the sky, it's kicking up our hopes and dreams. We're really thinking about how we want to grow, how we want to expand, what we want to improve in our life, what we want more of. Jupiter is a planet of accumulation and this could mean accumulating experiences, but it could also mean accumulating wealth or possessions or wisdom. Jupiter gives us really great perspective. It's like a hot air balloon that goes up, up, up, up, up, and allows us to see a bigger picture. When we're talking about Jupiter, we also might be discussing higher education or spiritual pursuits because those are things that Jupiter finds a lot of meaning from. If Jupiter, were a character it would definitely be some type of life coach with all the good advice. 

Our friend Saturn is next. And when we're gossiping about Saturn, what we're usually talking about is the challenging stuff in life. We might be talking about places in life where we feel a little stuck, maybe a little limited, or just kind of down. We might also be talking about our duties, our responsibilities, the things that we have to do, our obligations. And we could also be talking about our longterm plans. And hopefully making them sustainable. So Saturn's not interested in sprinting. It's really interested in going the distance and creating a strong foundation in life. And if something doesn't, you know, pass the Saturn test, Saturn will often disintegrate it. And so when Saturn stuff is happening in the sky, we can have endings of certain things that maybe weren't strong enough, that didn't make the cut. When we're talking about Saturn, we might also be talking about other types of limits, like boundaries and asserting those boundaries or erecting them for the first time, which is really challenging. We could also be talking about support, like where we feel supported in life or where we feel unsupported. Saturn is a really deep planet. It's one of my favorite planets. I could talk about it forever, but those are the basics. And if we were to make Saturn a character, I like to often think of it as an older version of myself, someone who is able to look back and offer sound advice to younger me. You could also think of Saturn as a boss or a manager who's telling you what to do. It is very bossy. 

Now let's chit chat about our outer planets because they're important too. And when they are doing stuff in the sky, lots of change tends to unfold. First up is Uranus. And as I always say, you can say Uranus, Uranus, Uranus, whichever way you want to say it is fine. I say Uranus. So when cosmic gossip involves Uranus, we're usually talking about hot gossip right off the press. So things that are surprising. Things that seem to come out of nowhere, come out of the blue. We're talking about brand new, exciting ideas or opportunities, maybe breakthroughs. So when Uranus is doing stuff in the sky, there can be sudden changes of heart and mind. We can experience reversals where maybe we've made a choice in one direction and then we were like, oh, just kidding, I'd like to reverse that. We can also experience drastic changes. Uranus can be fun and exciting, but it can also be a little disruptive. So when Uranus is doing stuff in the sky, sometimes life can feel a little haphazard. And maybe even interrupted. It can take a lot of conscious effort to calm down and wind down and be grounded when Uranus is doing stuff up there. When we're talking about Uranus, we might also be talking about how we want to be different than others. We might be thinking about how we are unique from other people, and trying to express that out in the world. If Uranus were a real person, it would probably be an inventor. A little disheveled, a little disorganized, but absolutely totally brilliant. 

Neptune is next. When we are talking about Neptune, we're usually talking about the things that confuse us and confound us. We might be sifting through what's true and what's untrue. There's a deceptive energy to Neptune that we don't often hear about. And when Neptune is doing stuff in the sky, we can just feel really like, which way is up? I am not sure who to believe or who to trust. When Neptune is busy up there, things down here can feel a little disorganized. We can also experience a little disappointment when Neptune is busy in the sky. And that's because Neptune tends to dissolve things. And sometimes when Neptune makes an aspect or is interacting with another planet, things can fall apart, or we might be letting go of something. Intuition and dreams and mystical stuff are definitely Neptune subjects as well. And so those are things we could be chatting about when Neptune is doing stuff up there. If Neptune where a character, what came to mind for me was a ghost trying to send me a cryptic message that maybe I couldn't quite understand.

And last but not least, we have our friend Pluto. When we're talking about Pluto, we're usually talking to ourselves and to our friends about major life changes. These are things that have completely transformed your day to day being. So it was this way and now it's that way. These experiences are stepping over a threshold. They're becoming something completely new. It's a new life chapter. When we're talking about Pluto, we might also be talking about themes of control. Maybe where we feel controlled or where we feel out of control. And along the same lines, we're talking about power. What type of power we have, feeling empowered, and also feeling overpowered. Pluto is a really deep planet. It's kind of like a grave digger, I guess you could say. And so when Pluto is talking to other planets, especially like talking to mercury, we can have these revelations or hidden information come up to the surface. If Pluto was a character, other than a grave digger, it would be a home renovator. So this planet excels at taking something that had one form and making it something completely different. 

 And that's it. Short and sweet and to the point. Virgo style. Planets from a Third House Gossip perspective. Remember, they are the action in astrology. They are the doers, they're the characters and their travels through the zodiac signs and interactions with each other give us something to talk about.
